The Story Behind Curated Character

Hi, I’m Jessica! The face, hands, and creative mind behind Curated Character. ❤️

Curated Character started as a creative escape from my 9-to-5 job. I found so much joy in painting custom wedding trays for friends and family, never imagining that my little creative outlet would eventually grow into the small business it is today.

In 2023, life looked a little different. My husband, David, and I were navigating home renovations while raising our golden retriever, Ponyboy. When Ponyboy unexpectedly needed emergency surgery, it was a scary reminder of just how quickly life can change. Thankfully, he made a full recovery, but somewhere in the middle of those long nights checking on him, a new creative idea came to me: what if I combined organic designs with bold, playful geometric colors?

That late-night idea became the foundation of Curated Character as you know it today.

Since then, life has gotten even sweeter and a whole lot busier! I’m now a mom to a beautiful little girl, working a full-time marketing job while juggling motherhood and my love for creating. Between the everyday chaos, family time, and everything else life throws my way, Curated Character gives me a space to slow down, get creative, and make something that brings me joy.

I believe your home should feel like you. It should be filled with pieces that make you smile, spark a conversation, and bring a little personality to the everyday. That’s exactly what I hope to create with my hand-painted pottery. Whether you’re shopping for a unique gift, a statement piece, or something special just because, I want you to find something that feels a little different from the ordinary.

I’m based in Spokane, Washington, and every piece I create is made with care, creativity, and a whole lot of love. As a small business owner, I’m so grateful for every person who chooses to shop small, follow along, share my work, or bring one of my pieces into their home.
